The Balance Babes are organising a challenge to raise money for the Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation.
This challenge is inspired by the beautiful Winky and will be called Winkys 100 Pushup Challenge.
It is also inspired by this website www.hundredpushups.com
The Babes will be meeting at Balance Babes HQ (Auntys House) on Sunday 17th August at 3pm to nut out the details and do the initial testing. Babes not available on this date can test themselves at home and forward their base line results to me.
The plan is to set a date 6 weeks later when we will all take the challange having rigorously followed the training program. Pushups on toes will be the favoured method however pushups done on knees may be considered following application in writing to Balanced Babes HQ (or email me). The idea is that the Balance Boys will sponsor us per pushup and all money raised will go to the Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation.
Our chief coach and advisor will be Lou (Gunns) Ellengold.
Please RSVP to rlutz@bigpond.net.au so we can organise snacks for the afternoon (probably protein bars and beef jerky).
Babes are requested to bring their own beverages. Balance Babes HQ is 3/129-139 Majors Bay Rd CONCORD.
Afterwards the Babes will be heading to the Palace for beer and protein. The Balance Boys are welcome to join us at the Palace.
Over and out

Hi Everyone
Thank you so much for the award last weekend at the club presentations it was the perfect to cap off a challenging season of racing. I am just sorry I could not have been there with you to enjoy the night.
I have been involved in many clubs over the years but none have been as rewarding to me as this season with Balance. You have all made Rach and me feel so comfortable at the events and functions.
Rach and I are both looking forward to sharing the 2008-09 season with you at Balance especially next years Club Champs and I promise to definitely be there for next years awards.
Hope to see you all out on the road soon.
Ben Howard

Ben’s IM Build-up to Japan
Well, the count down is now for Ben! He is off to test himself againg some of the leading IM athletes in our sport on his little adventure …a little north from here. I hear the Saki is rather pleasant this time of year!
Ben has prepared a note on his build-up this year. It makes a good read…and something we all relate to sooo well! Ah, yes! Good luck Salty, may the force of the Balanced Knights be with you! Power

Good morning Knights!
Our ride on Saturday will be from Centennial Park, rolling at 6.30 sharp. It is important that we hit the road at 6.30 sharp as this has an impact on the safety of members riding back in from down South that little bit later. The gates at the park are opening around 6.05am so that gives us more than enough time to get organised. Please remember your lights and flashers. Ride will be about 90km for the intermediate group, and approximately 50 - 60km for the beginner - casual riding group. Please come prepared with adequate nutrition! Please get in touch with me if you are not sure which group you should be in.
Last week, we had a fellow of Balance come down heavily and broke ribs, dislocated shoulder…etc poor guy! Please make sure that you keep a safe following bike length on one wheel between riders in front of you. Always keep your eyes on the person’s backside in front of you, and not the wheel…your reaction tome is up to 70% slower watching the wheel…and in this example took a rider down…followed by the rest of the pack. Not everyone takes being riden over as well as Michael…not so Shot’is!
See you in the morning! Power (0430 195 289)

Balanced Knights
Now is the time to shake the early darkness and cold weather from your mind and come out for a run with your club mates.
The 5k Bolt series is back over winter to help get your training back on track. This Thursday (29th May) the ordinary club run will make way for a 5k Bolt test event prior to our club dinner in Balmain.
This 5km run will be used to help the winter series handicappers gauge your handicapping needs and will help you plan your watches off time estimates for the first round.
Stay tuned for a full invitation to the winter series including exciting support details from our great event sponsor Running Science.
Run Details
Meet in the Carpark outside La Montage as per the usual Thursday night club run at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm start. Run will be a 2.5k out and back course leaving from the pedestrian bridge heading west around past Rodd Point to the turn-around and back.
For our newer members, and those we have not seen for a while, this is the perfect opportunity to come on down and join in the fun, the committee would love the chance to say hello and answer any questions you have.
